Functionalized Graphene Coatings for Corrosion Protection
In a GrapheneTX comparison, steel coated with aminated graphene-filled epoxy showed less visible corrosion than a paint-only control after 10 months in 3.5% salt water.

GrapheneTX develops functionalized graphene (FG) additives for protective coatings. In a company-supplied comparison, steel coated with aminated graphene-filled epoxy showed less visible corrosion than a paint-only control after 10 months in 3.5% sodium chloride solution.
Functionalized graphene in protective coatings
GrapheneTX's patented FG is designed to improve dispersion and bonding within coating matrices. These characteristics are intended to support the development of graphene-filled coatings, with performance evaluated in the specific resin system and exposure conditions.
Steel coating comparison
The comparison used a two-component (2K) epoxy liquid paint applied to steel. The photographs below show the aminated graphene-filled coating on the left and the paint-only control on the right following the stated immersion exposure.

The photographs provide a qualitative comparison of visible surface condition. They do not establish a quantified corrosion rate or service-life prediction.
