Stratasys F870 launches for large build volume parts
Stratasys has introduced the F870 FDM, a large-format 3D printer with a build area of 1000 by 610 by 610 mm, designed to enhance production for industrial manufacturers.
Stratasys Ltd. has introduced the F870 FDM, an industrial large-format additive manufacturing platform designed to enhance production capabilities for large tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aids. This addition to the company's production-grade portfolio aims to support industrial manufacturers, automotive OEMs, and aerospace and defense production lines in scaling their operations.
The F870 features a build volume of 1000 x 610 x 610 mm and a fully heated chamber, allowing for versatile production options. Users can choose between fine-resolution tooling, carbon-fiber composite parts, or high-speed fixture production, with the ability to swap print heads quickly to minimize downtime.
At launch, the F870 supports nine materials from Stratasys' existing FDM range, including Nylon 12CF, ASA, ABS, and a new FDM ABS Draft (Grey). These materials are compatible with high-capacity 4,100 cm³ spools, facilitating long builds and efficient inventory management.
According to Rich Garrity, Stratasys' chief business unit officer, the new platform is tailored for real manufacturing environments, offering increased build capacity and the reliability of Stratasys materials at a competitive price. The system has already been adopted by companies such as Toyota Production Engineering in Kentucky and Rivian Automotive in Michigan.
Dallas Martin, an additive manufacturing engineer at Toyota, noted the F870's alignment with their manufacturing needs, highlighting its build size, material performance, and industrial features as key benefits.
