Carbice and Noctua partner to offer advanced thermal pads for DIY PC builders

Carbice has partnered with Noctua to introduce a thermal pad for DIY PC builders that uses vertically aligned carbon nanotube technology. This collaboration brings advanced thermal management solutions, previously used in aerospace and AI infrastructure, to the consumer electronics market.

Carbice, a U.S.-based developer of carbon nanotube thermal interface materials (TIMs), has entered a strategic partnership with Noctua, an Austrian leader in PC cooling solutions. Under this agreement, Noctua will exclusively distribute Carbice® IP90 thermal pads, offering a no-maintenance alternative to traditional thermal paste for DIY PC builders. This collaboration aims to bring Carbice's advanced carbon nanotube technology to a broader consumer base, enhancing thermal performance in PC systems.

For the first time, DIY enthusiasts can access Carbice's carbon nanotube thermal pad technology directly. Unlike conventional thermal pastes that require regular reapplication, Carbice® IP90 thermal pads maintain consistent performance over the system's lifetime, improving heat transfer as the system ages. This innovation addresses a longstanding issue in PC building where thermal interfaces are typically seen as consumables.

Carbice pads feature vertically aligned carbon nanotubes anchored to an aluminum backbone, coated with a nanoscale polymer. This design provides several benefits: improved performance through thermal cycling, easy installation without mess, and zero maintenance. The pads' robust construction allows for 3D heat spreading, making them suitable for high-demand applications like satellites and AI data centers.

Roland Mossig, CEO of Noctua, expressed confidence in the partnership, highlighting the pads' superior long-term performance and ease of use. The NT-CP1 AM5/4 thermal pad, validated for AMD Ryzen™ processors, will be available for purchase in September 2026 and showcased at Computex 2026.

Carbice continues to expand its presence in the PC market, with products already available in gaming desktops from CyberPowerPC. The company, founded in 2011, focuses on scalable cooling solutions that ensure hardware reliability with minimal environmental impact.
