Carbon nanotube nanocage enhances composite heat resistance

Researchers in South Korea developed a carbon nanotube nanocage that increased the glass transition temperature of a composite by 119%, from 160°C.

Carbon nanotube nanocages have been shown to enhance the heat resistance of composite materials. These nanozymes, which combine enzyme-like functions with the unique properties of nanomaterials, are gaining attention in materials science and bioscience. A recent study utilized bibliometric methods to analyze global research on nanozymes, highlighting research progress, key areas of interest, and emerging trends. Data from the Web of Science Core Collection database was used to review publications from 2004 to 2024, revealing a growing international interest in nanozyme research. The study detailed the enzyme-like activities, matrix, multifunctional properties, catalytic mechanisms, and applications of nanozymes, while also addressing the challenges faced by the field. Although significant advancements have been made, further exploration is needed to guide future research directions. The potential for future developments in this field is vast, with implications for technology and society.
