Catack-H and Lineat sign MOU for regenerated carbon fiber development and market expansion
A South Korean carbon fiber recycling start-up, Catack-H, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Lineat to develop sustainable carbon fiber composites.
Carbon fiber recycling technology developer Catack-H (Hwaseong, South Korea) and Lineat (Chepstow, Wales, U.K.), an advanced sustainable materials innovator, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to co-develop next-generation, high-performance composite materials. The partnership aims to leverage Catack-H's regenerated carbon fibers and Lineat's fiber alignment and tape manufacturing technology to produce highly aligned, sustainable unidirectional (UD) prepreg tapes. This collaboration seeks to bridge the performance gap between conventional recycled materials and virgin carbon fiber. Gary Owen, CEO of Lineat, emphasizes the importance of aligning short fibers to make recycled composites commercially viable.
The MOU also establishes a market development and distribution partnership. Lineat and Catack-H will work to commercialize these advanced composite solutions in the Republic of Korea and expand their reach into international markets. The collaboration targets high-demand sectors such as automotive, aerospace, electronics, and sports equipment, aiming to secure local supply chains.
"We are not just recycling; we are upcycling carbon fiber into a new high-performance material that meets the stringent demands of our industrial partners in Korea and worldwide," states Dr. Jin-Ho Jeong, CEO of Catack-H.
Joint initiatives under this MOU will commence immediately, focusing on product validation and initial market deployment in the Asia-Pacific region.
