Lineat adopts Techlan's recycled release liners

Lineat Composites is using Techlan's recycled Re-Liners to enhance sustainability in its production of aligned recycled carbon fiber.

Lineat adopts Techlan's recycled release liners

Lineat Composites, a cleantech startup based in Chepstow, U.K., has integrated Techlan's recycled silicone release liners, known as Re-Liner, into its production process for aligned recycled carbon fiber products. This move enhances the sustainability of Lineat's operations while maintaining high performance standards in advanced composites manufacturing.

Lineat's Aligned Formable Fibre Technology (AFFT) transforms waste carbon fiber into new material using a hydrojet alignment method. This process produces highly aligned fiber tapes that retain approximately 80% of the properties of continuous fibers, with less than half the carbon footprint of virgin carbon fiber. The AFFT material also offers advantages in formability, shear strength, and vibration dampening.

Techlan, located in Bynea, U.K., specializes in recycling silicone release liners, which are typically challenging to repurpose and often end up in landfills. Through a patented cleaning process, Techlan converts waste rolls into Re-Liner, a high-quality product made entirely from recycled silicone release liner waste. This innovation supports circularity in the composites, aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing sectors.

By adopting Re-Liner, Lineat not only reduces carbon emissions and minimizes waste but also supports responsible resource management across its supply chain. The recycled liners provide the same performance and reliability as virgin materials, aligning with Lineat's sustainability goals.

Dr. Lourens Blok, CTO at Lineat Composites, notes the synergy between the two companies. Lineat leads in sustainable composites technology by realigning reclaimed carbon fiber into high-performance materials with a lower environmental impact. Similarly, Techlan advances circularity by transforming release liner waste into valuable products.
