Turquoise Group achieves Verified Graphene Producer status

Turquoise Group has achieved Verified Graphene Producer® status, confirming its capability to produce 30 tonnes of high-purity few-layer graphene annually at its Brisbane facility. This certification enhances the company's credibility in delivering high-quality graphene, a material crucial for applications in coatings, composites, and energy storage.

Turquoise Group achieves Verified Graphene Producer status

Turquoise Group has achieved the Verified Graphene Producer® status after a thorough evaluation process. This credential, administered by the Advanced Carbons Council, involves independent third-party inspections of graphene production facilities, as well as verification of production methods, volumes, and quality control processes. The program also includes expert testing of graphene materials under the Graphene Classification Framework, as outlined in ISO/TS 9651.

During the verification, Turquoise Group's graphene powder was confirmed as few-layer graphene, averaging five layers. Independent tests showed a high purity product with 98.5% carbon and 1.5% oxygen, free from other impurities. The company's production capacity was also validated, with a capability of producing 30 tonnes annually at its modular demonstration facility.

The Advanced Carbons Council, representing over 40,000 materials experts worldwide, is a leading body in the graphene and advanced 2D materials sector. It plays a crucial role in setting standards, testing, and education to support the commercial use of graphene and related materials.

Graphene, a prominent member of the 2D advanced nanomaterials family, offers unique properties for addressing global challenges such as sustainability and decarbonization. Its applications span textiles, healthcare, energy storage, sensing technologies, and electronics, among others.

Achieving the Verified Graphene Producer® status is a significant validation of a company's capability to produce genuine graphene materials on a commercial scale. "We congratulate Turquoise Group on this milestone, which assures customers of a reliable partner for graphene materials," said Terrance Barkan, Executive Director of the Advanced Carbons Council.

Samuel Taubert, CEO of Turquoise Group, stated, "This achievement validates our ability to produce high-quality few-layer graphene at a commercial scale. Our methane-to-graphene process offers a cost-effective bulk supply of graphene, facilitating industrial applications beyond laboratory trials."

Turquoise Group, based in Brisbane, Australia, specializes in the commercial production of few-layer graphene powder using its proprietary methane-to-graphene technology. This process converts methane gas into solid carbon and hydrogen, enabling continuous graphene production without mined graphite. The approach promises sustainable, scalable, and cost-effective graphene supply for industrial markets, with hydrogen as a clean energy byproduct.
