Birla Carbon showcases CNT-enhanced conductive carbon portfolio at Battery Show North America 2026
Birla Carbon showcased its conductive carbon solutions at The Battery Show North America 2026 in Detroit. The portfolio includes Conductex i carbon black and Nanocyl carbon nanotubes for advanced battery applications.
Birla Carbon highlighted its range of conductive carbon solutions at The Battery Show North America 2026, focusing on advanced applications such as next-generation batteries. Conductive carbon plays a crucial role in battery electrodes by forming electron pathways that enhance performance. The right conductive additive can lead to faster charging, improved high-rate capability, and extended cycle life, while also enhancing manufacturing efficiency.
At the event, held from October 12–15 at Huntington Place in Detroit, Michigan, Birla Carbon presented its portfolio at Booth 3029. Featured products included Conductex i conductive carbon black grades, Nanocyl carbon nanotubes, and blend formulations that combine carbon black with CNTs. These products are designed for a wide range of conductive applications, offering high purity, superior conductivity, and consistent dispersibility. Conductex i grades also reduce solvent and energy use during electrode production, lowering costs for customers.
The showcased additives address key industry priorities such as charge acceptance, battery capacity, dry coating, and solid-state technologies. They enable manufacturers to meet increasing demands without compromising on quality, consistency, or supply reliability. Shashank Awasthi, President of Speciality Materials at Birla Carbon, emphasized the importance of advanced carbon materials in meeting the evolving performance demands across the materials value chain. He noted that established lithium-ion battery manufacturers require supply chain resilience, extended cycle life, and fast charging capabilities, which Birla Carbon's portfolio supports. Emerging cell technologies, including LMFP, sodium-ion, solid-state, and metal-air, are also benefiting from the incorporation of Conductex i carbon blacks and Nanocyl carbon nanotubes.
In addition to its focus on conductive carbon solutions, Birla Carbon is expanding its specialty materials portfolio to address the evolving requirements of the electrification landscape. The company aims to support customers in adapting to these changes by leveraging its expertise in carbon materials.
