First Graphene Advances PureGRAPH Carbon Fibre with Prepreg Deal

First Graphene Limited has entered a three-year agreement with Aeropreg to advance the commercialisation of graphene-enhanced carbon fibre prepreg. This collaboration aims to integrate First Graphene's PureGRAPH graphene with Aeropreg’s manufacturing capabilities.

Carbon fibre prepreg, a composite material infused with partially cured polymer resin, is used to enhance the strength of components in aerospace, automotive, and other industries. The development will focus on achieving consistent graphene loading and validating the material's performance within Aeropreg’s processes.

Pending successful trials, the partners plan to launch the product through Aeropreg’s sales channels, targeting aerospace, automotive, marine, and sporting goods markets. This agreement builds on First Graphene's prior research and development in graphene-enhanced composites.

Aeropreg, a subsidiary of Spinteks, offers in-house resin development and testing capabilities, which are expected to facilitate the commercial production of the technology. The company provides customised prepreg solutions and technical support to meet specific customer needs.

First Graphene aims to establish a commercial route for PureGRAPH, addressing applications in defence, aerospace, and automotive sectors. The partnership also supports First Graphene’s expansion into the US market, following its acquisition of MITO Materials.

The global carbon fibre reinforced plastics market is projected to reach US$43.7 billion by 2033, presenting significant opportunities for this collaboration.
