HydroGraph graphene paste aims for easier industrial blending

HydroGraph Clean Power has launched Fractal Graphene Paste, a pre-dispersed aqueous concentrate containing 20% graphene by weight, designed to simplify the incorporation of graphene into water-based industrial formulations. This development is significant for the advanced carbon materials sector as it addresses the dispersion challenges associated with graphene, potentially accelerating its adoption in applications such as construction materials, coatings, and thermal management systems.

HydroGraph Clean Power has introduced Fractal Graphene Paste, an aqueous concentrate designed to simplify the integration of graphene into water-based industrial formulations. This pre-dispersed paste allows manufacturers to incorporate graphene without the need for dry powders, high-energy dispersion equipment, or lengthy formulation processes. The product aims to facilitate the adoption of graphene by enabling its use with standard mixing equipment, thus reducing initial processing challenges.

The paste contains 20% graphene by weight, significantly higher than the typical 1% to 5% found in many commercial graphene dispersions. HydroGraph asserts that the material remains stable for over two years and resists re-agglomeration during storage and processing. The graphene is produced using HydroGraph's Hyperion Reactor technology, achieving 99.8% carbon purity and consistent batch-to-batch quality. The D50 particle size is approximately 35 nanometers, with dispersion quality verified through Dynamic Light Scattering.

HydroGraph is focusing on applications where graphene's mechanical, barrier, thermal, or durability properties can be beneficial, particularly in water-based systems. Target areas include construction materials, coatings, thermal management systems, and elastomers or rubber compounds. In construction, graphene may enhance strength and durability while aiding in reducing embodied carbon. For coatings, the focus is on improving corrosion resistance and barrier protection.

Thermal management is another key application, with potential uses in liquid cooling systems and thermal interface materials, particularly in data centers and AI infrastructure where heat dissipation is critical. In elastomers and rubber compounds, graphene can improve tensile strength, wear resistance, and durability, offering performance enhancements without necessitating a complete redesign of existing formulations.

HydroGraph has provided samples to over 30 customers for evaluation across various markets and is prepared for research, development, and early commercial production, with plans to scale as demand increases. This launch complements HydroGraph's existing product line, which includes Fractal Graphene powder products and Reactive Graphene functionalized materials. The main advantage for manufacturers is a higher-concentration graphene format that is easier to handle and disperse, suitable for early commercial testing in water-based systems.
