Inspire Nano licensed its graphene-coated copper electrode platform to Furukawa Electric for Asia-Pacific high-frequency signal transmission applications in a deal worth $9 million upfront plus royalties. The graphene coating reduces skin-effect losses at frequencies above 1 GHz by 22 percent, with direct relevance to graphene commercialization in 5G/6G infrastructure and data center cable markets.
Inspire Nano has licensed its graphene-coated copper electrode platform to Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. for use in high-frequency signal transmission applications. The agreement, valued at 9 million USD in upfront payments plus royalties, is non-exclusive and covers the Asia-Pacific markets. Inspire Nano's technology employs a 5-10 layer graphene coating on copper conductors using a chemical vapor deposition process, which reduces skin-effect losses at frequencies above 1 GHz by approximately 22 percent. This technology is aimed at enhancing 5G and 6G infrastructure, data center backplanes, and aerospace radar systems.
Furukawa Electric plans to incorporate this technology into its premium signal cable lines, with sampling expected in the second half of 2026 and full commercial availability in 2027. Inspire Nano CEO Henrik Mansson noted that this license represents the company's third strategic partnership, following similar agreements with two unnamed European cable specialists earlier this year.
