Levidian launches NanoFlow-S1-20 graphene additive for solvent-based paints
Levidian has launched NanoFlow-S1-20, a graphene additive containing 20 wt.% G3 graphene, designed for easy integration into solvent-based paints using standard mixing equipment.
Levidian has introduced NanoFlow-S1-20, the initial offering in its NanoFlow series of graphene dispersions, aimed at facilitating the integration of graphene into existing solvent-based paint formulations.
NanoFlow-S1-20 is a high-concentration additive containing 20 wt.% of Levidian's G3 graphene, pre-dispersed in xylene. This drop-in solution can be mixed using standard paint equipment, either into Part A of a two-part system or directly into a one-part formulation. The product addresses a key challenge in the coatings industry: incorporating high-quality graphene efficiently without the need for custom dispersion processes.
The inclusion of G3 graphene in solvent-based coatings offers potential benefits such as enhanced barrier properties against air, hydrogen, and moisture, improved corrosion protection, reduced friction coefficients, and anti-fouling properties. It may also improve flame retardancy, UV stability, and allow for reformulations with less heavy-metal content, thus reducing environmental impact. Levidian targets NanoFlow-S1-20 for various applications, including industrial coatings, marine paints, and uses in infrastructure, energy, and transport sectors.
Nasir Macadam, Principal Engineer at Levidian, stated, "Graphene has shown significant potential to enhance coating performance, but achieving a stable dispersion often required specialized knowledge. NanoFlow-S1-20 eliminates this complexity, allowing customers to easily integrate it into their solvent-based formulations using conventional mixing equipment. Whether developing new high-performance coatings or assessing improvements in existing systems, NanoFlow-S1-20 offers a straightforward path to incorporating graphene."
NanoFlow-S1-20 is the first in Levidian's NanoFlow product line, which will expand to include graphene dispersions tailored to various chemistries and markets. The G3 graphene is produced using Levidian's patented LOOP technology, which converts methane into hydrogen and graphene via a low-temperature microwave plasma process. LOOP's modular design supports regional production, enhancing supply security and minimizing transportation-related environmental impacts.
NanoFlow-S1-20 is now available for customer evaluation and product development.
