Suzlon and Exel Composites form multi-year wind power partnership
Suzlon and Exel Composites have partnered for a multi-year agreement to manufacture carbon fibre composites for wind power applications.
Exel Composites, a global composites manufacturer, and Suzlon Energy Limited have entered into a multi-year supply agreement for pultruded carbon fiber planks used in wind turbine blade spar caps. The agreement, which extends through March 2029, is projected to exceed EUR 100 million in future deliveries.
The supply agreement involves Exel Composites’ joint venture in India, Kineco Exel Composites India (KECI), which will provide a portion of Suzlon's requirements for these carbon fiber products. The final value and delivery schedule will depend on Suzlon's production needs and order volumes. This partnership builds on a collaboration that began in 2024, supporting the expansion of Exel's manufacturing operations in India.
Initially, Exel and Suzlon collaborated under a two-year supply agreement, which resulted in a EUR 10 million purchase order announced by Exel in February 2025. The new agreement not only extends their collaboration but also offers a longer-term framework for planning sourcing and production. Amit Agrawal, Senior Vice President of Global Procurement at Suzlon Energy Limited, emphasized the importance of reliable supply, consistent product quality, and local manufacturing capability in supporting Suzlon's wind turbine blade programs.
