Zentek to present ultra-high-purity Albany graphite results at global nuclear graphite meeting

Zentek will present findings on ultra-high-purity Albany graphite at the Global Nuclear Graphite Meeting.

Zentek Ltd. will present its bench-scale purification results from the Albany Graphite Project at the 26th International Nuclear Graphite Specialists Meeting in Osaka, Japan, on October 22, 2026. The presentation will focus on the acid-free purification process that achieves 5N+ purity for Albany graphite and will seek guidance from nuclear graphite specialists on specifications, applications, and partnerships for further characterization.

Testing by Zentek has demonstrated that Albany graphite can achieve up to 99.99985 wt.% carbon purity using a halogen-free fluidized bed reactor. However, the material has not yet been irradiated or qualified against existing nuclear-grade benchmarks, and Zentek is not positioning it as a replacement for current synthetic reactor graphite. With increasing nuclear power deployment and demand for reactor graphite, Zentek's preliminary economic assessment from August 10, 2026, models a 5N Albany product using nuclear-grade synthetic graphite pricing. The company is targeting a pre-feasibility study and potential nuclear qualification, which could impact its role in critical mineral supply chains if successful.

The INGSM-26 conference, co-organized by Toyo Tanso and the Japan Atomic Energy Agency, with collaboration from the International Atomic Energy Agency, will include major nuclear industry laboratories and utilities. Zentek's participation aims to position Albany graphite within the growing demand for nuclear materials, though current results are preliminary, and scale-up remains unproven.

Zentek Ltd. is a Canadian company focused on the development and commercialization of graphene-enabled and advanced material technologies for clean air, next-generation materials, and critical minerals. Its core platforms include the Albany Graphite Project, ZenGUARD™, and Triera, with Albany as its principal critical minerals asset, being advanced as a potential North American source of ultra-high-purity graphite for nuclear, defense, and allied supply chains.

The Albany Graphite deposit, located near Hearst in Northern Ontario and held through wholly owned subsidiary Albany Graphite Corp., is an igneous-hosted, fluid-derived resource contained in two breccia pipes. Bench-scale testing disclosed in September 2025 and September 2026 has demonstrated ultra-high-purity graphite in the 4N–5N range, with halogen-free fluidized bed reactor processing achieving maximum measured purity of 99.99985 wt.% carbon, supporting use-case exploration for nuclear-grade and other critical applications.
