Advanced Graphene Products has commenced the supply of medical-grade graphene oxide to Boston Scientific for a clinical trial involving antimicrobial-coated cardiac catheters. This two-year trial, sponsored by Boston Scientific and sanctioned by the FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health, will include 480 patients across 12 clinical centers in the United States. The trial aims to compare infection rates between graphene-oxide-coated catheters and standard polyurethane controls. Advanced Graphene Products is delivering clinical-grade material certified to ISO 10993 biocompatibility standards from its facility in Zielona Gora, Poland. The initial supply contract is valued at 4.2 million USD for the duration of the trial. CEO Daniel Choi noted that this supply role could lead to further commercial opportunities if Boston Scientific proceeds with FDA submission. Preliminary in-vitro results indicated that graphene-oxide coatings reduced biofilm formation of S. aureus and E. coli by 96 percent over a period of seven days.
