CCI BioEnergy wins equipment supply contract for Toronto's Disco Road Organics facility
CCI BioEnergy has secured a contract to supply equipment for the Disco Road Organics Processing Facility in Toronto.
CCI BioEnergy has secured a contract to supply essential process equipment for the expansion of the City of Toronto's Disco Road Organics Processing Facility. This project aims to enhance the facility's capacity for processing organic waste, aligning with Toronto's commitment to sustainable waste management.
Previously, CCI BioEnergy completed the preliminary and detailed design work for the pre-treatment and anaerobic digestion (AD) processes involved in the facility's expansion. The project will boost the facility's processing capacity from 75,000 tonnes per year (tpy) to 125,000 tpy, with a peak capacity of 140,000 tpy.
Under the terms of the agreement, CCI BioEnergy will provide a BTA® Waste Pulper, BTA® Grit Removal System, two anaerobic digester equipment packages, and related ancillary equipment. This equipment will be integral to the facility's organics pre-treatment and AD process, efficiently removing contaminants from Green Bin materials and maximizing biogas conversion. The contract also includes installation support, on-site supervision, acceptance testing, training, and project documentation.
The Disco Road Organics Processing Facility handles source-separated organics from Toronto's Green Bin Program, processing a variety of residential organic materials. These include food waste, diapers, pet waste, and more, collected in both plastic and compostable bags. After contaminant removal, materials are fed into digesters to produce biogas and high-quality compost.
