NeoGraf opens flexible graphite sheet line in Ohio for thermal interface market
NeoGraf commissioned a new production line at its Lakewood, Ohio facility, adding 2,000 tonnes per annum of flexible graphite sheet capacity funded by a $38 million investment, bringing its total to 11,000 tonnes per annum. The expansion increases domestic supply of high-purity exfoliated graphite sheets for EV battery thermal management, where the material's in-plane thermal conductivity above 600 W/m·K at low density addresses a critical requirement for North American automotive manufacturers.
NeoGraf Solutions LLC has launched a new production line at its Lakewood, Ohio facility, focusing on high-purity flexible graphite sheets. These sheets are intended for use as thermal interface materials in electric vehicle (EV) battery packs, data center cooling systems, and consumer electronics. The new line increases capacity by 2,000 tonnes annually, supported by a $38 million capital investment, partially funded by US Department of Energy advanced materials grants.
NeoGraf's exfoliated graphite sheets provide in-plane thermal conductivities exceeding 600 W/m·K at densities below 1.5 g/cc. This performance is crucial for next-generation battery thermal management, where weight is a significant consideration. The initial production is allocated to three unnamed North American Tier-1 automotive suppliers.
David Caputo, CEO of NeoGraf, stated that the Ohio expansion raises the company's total flexible graphite capacity to 11,000 tonnes per annum. Additionally, NeoGraf has achieved ISO 14064 certification for its manufacturing emissions, aligning with OEM environmental, social, and governance (ESG) requirements.
