Blencowe discovers 25 km of graphite outcropping at Orom-Cross project

Blencowe Resources discovered graphite outcropping over a 25 km strike at its Orom-Cross project in Uganda, with grab samples showing over 20% total graphitic carbon.

Blencowe discovers 25 km of graphite outcropping at Orom-Cross project

Blencowe Resources, a company listed in London, has completed its second-phase exploration campaign at the Orom-Cross graphite project in northern Uganda. This phase focused on geophysical targets located directly to the north and south of the current deposits.

The company reported that graphite was found outcropping at the surface over the tested targets, which span approximately 25 km of strike within Blencowe's lease holdings. Grab samples from three targets showed high-grade assays exceeding 20% total graphitic carbon.

Interim CEO Iain Wearing stated that the follow-up program strengthens the case for Orom-Cross as a major graphite region, with potential for continuous mineralization across the 25 km strike. He emphasized that each geophysical target identified has shown significant surface outcropping of graphite, indicating multidecade production potential. This aspect is a key point in discussions with strategic partners seeking secure long-term supply.

Wearing also highlighted that potential high-grade zones throughout the project enhance its quality. All areas are within 10 km of the planned plant site, strategically positioning them in the development pipeline. He expressed confidence that Orom-Cross is rapidly becoming one of the world's most significant long-life graphite projects. The results are expected to further strengthen engagement with strategic groups focused on long-term supply security, with significant newsflow anticipated.

Following promising results from exploratory drilling at the Iyan and Beehive deposits, Blencowe initiated surface mapping and sampling of the remaining geophysical targets in September. This second phase follows a geophysical survey and mirrors the approach that advanced the Northern Syncline and Camp Lode deposits to definitive feasibility study status.

The program involved preliminary work to assess whether the targets could host orebodies. Surface mapping covered about 95% of the identified geophysical targets, yielding positive results based on surface outcropping and indicative soil characteristics. Extensive surface outcropping was identified in several targets, with cover soils similar to those over the four drilled deposits.

Grab samples were selectively taken from areas with high-grade potential rather than across the entire mapped area. Among these, GT-02b, GT-03b, and GT-04 returned above 20% total graphitic carbon. GT-04 and GT-03b are fully within the company's exploration licenses, while most of GT-02b is within the current mining license, with a portion in Blencowe's exploration licenses.

The definitive feasibility study, published in December 2025, is based on an initial 15-year mine life from the four deposits drilled so far. The latest program indicates graphite at surface along the full 25 km trend, across targets outside the current mine plan.

Blencowe's immediate focus is securing Phase 1 project funding. The company plans to continue early-stage work on the wider targets using the measured, staged approach applied to the existing deposits.
