GMG Applies for Additional Environmental Approvals for Graphene Production in USA
Graphene Manufacturing Group (GMG) submitted a Significant New Use Notice (SNUN) to the US EPA on June 2, 2026, seeking authorization to manufacture, distribute, and sell graphene coatings, lubricants, and fluids domestically in the United States, with approval expected by end of June 2027. The filing marks a shift from export-only access to domestic graphene production in the US, which could establish a local graphene supply chain for industrial applications including HVAC coatings and engine lubricant additives.
Graphene Manufacturing Group Ltd (TSXV: GMG) (OTCQX: GMGMF), based in Brisbane, Australia, has submitted an additional application to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to manufacture and sell graphene products in the United States. The application seeks authorization for the production and distribution of graphene and graphene coatings, including THERMAL-XR®, lubricants, and other graphene fluids.
The application, a Significant New Use Notice (SNUN) under pre-manufacture notice P-25-0018, aims to expand GMG's existing approval, which currently allows the export and distribution of graphene coatings in the U.S. This new approval is expected by June 2027 and would enable domestic manufacturing of graphene, enhancing GMG's ability to serve U.S. markets.
Craig Nicol, CEO & Managing Director, emphasized the strategic importance of producing graphene in the U.S., which would strengthen GMG's industrial presence and supply chain. Jack Perkowski, Chairman, highlighted the U.S. as a critical market for GMG's growth and production initiatives.
GMG's THERMAL-XR® ENHANCE coating system improves the conductivity of heat exchange surfaces, leveraging graphene's properties to enhance efficiency. The G® LUBRICANT is designed to improve engine performance, verified to increase fuel efficiency by up to 8.4% in diesel engines.
The company has also announced the grant of 783,590 Restricted Share Units to employees and directors as part of its remuneration review. GMG continues to focus on developing energy-saving and storage solutions, including graphene-enhanced HVAC-R coatings and graphene aluminium-ion batteries in collaboration with the University of Queensland.
