ADVENT and Korean Environmental Agency use graphene AI e-nose to classify

ADVENT Co., Ltd., a company based in Seoul specializing in graphene-based AI olfaction systems, has entered into an agreement with a Korean public environmental agency to utilize its GraphAISense electronic nose for odor monitoring at residential locations. This collaboration, formalized on October 30, 2026, aims to address odor issues at an apartment complex in Korea.

In the initial phase, ADVENT employed the GraphAISense AI e-nose to analyze odor samples from a residential complex plagued by strong odors affecting the community. The system, leveraging AI models trained on odor patterns, successfully identified and categorized the odors present in the samples.

Odor issues pose significant challenges for environmental management due to their transient nature and reliance on wind patterns, often dissipating before inspectors can assess them. Traditional methods involve spot sampling and laboratory analysis, which can be time-consuming. Continuous, objective data collection is essential for accurately identifying and tracing odor sources.

Following the successful classification of odors, ADVENT plans to deploy GraphAISense units for ongoing monitoring at the complex starting in November. These units feature a multi-channel graphene sensor array and an on-device AI model capable of recognizing odor types and measuring their intensity continuously. By integrating wind data, the system aims to pinpoint the origins of odors effectively.

Dr. Maxim Rabchinskii, Chief Technology Officer of ADVENT, emphasized the importance of this approach, stating, "Odor is a chemical signal, and every source has its own fingerprint. Together with our public-sector partner, we aim to move odor management from complaints and guesswork to continuous, data-driven evidence that authorities and residents can trust."

ADVENT intends to expand this methodology to industrial complexes, waste-treatment facilities, livestock farms, and urban areas. The company currently produces units on demand and plans to begin volume production in 2027. It is also seeking distribution and pilot partners in the United States and the Middle East.
