Levidian and Zentek aim to set up a graphene-integrated filter plant in the Middle East

Levidian and Zentek have signed an agreement to explore building a graphene-integrated manufacturing facility in the Middle East, combining Levidian's methane-derived graphene production with Zentek's graphene-enhanced air filters. The deal signals growing regional demand for graphene-enhanced products and positions the Middle East as an emerging hub for graphene manufacturing and deployment across multiple industries.

Levidian, a British climate technology company, and Zentek Ltd., a Canadian graphene technology firm, have agreed to explore establishing a manufacturing facility in the Middle East. This collaboration aims to leverage their combined expertise in carbon capture and graphene production to accelerate the deployment of Zentek's ZenGUARD™ Enhanced Air Filters and other graphene-enhanced products in the region.

Levidian's LOOP system, which captures carbon from methane to produce clean hydrogen and high-quality graphene, plays a crucial role in this initiative. The graphene produced is applicable across various industries, including batteries, solar panels, tires, and plastics. Levidian is currently identifying a location for a new production and delivery center in the Middle East, which will serve as a central hub and showcase for their operations. The facility is expected to create approximately 100 direct professional and manufacturing roles, with an additional 150 indirect jobs.

In March 2025, Levidian partnered with Graphmatech to advance graphene applications in the clean hydrogen sector.

Separately, Zentek announced the completion of the first phase of the Innovative Solutions Canada Testing Stream contract. This involved delivering a lead candidate countermeasure for highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) A(H5N1), which has now progressed to the testing phase. Zentek received funding from the Government of Canada’s Innovative Solutions Canada Testing Stream under Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada for Health Advanced And Emerging Medical Technologies. The project focuses on developing a prophylactic and therapeutic for avian influenza HPAI A(H5N1) using a multivalent aptamer strategy, previously successful in developing a SARS-CoV-2 aptamer. The lead candidate countermeasure met the performance metrics set by the Government of Canada testing contract, and recent in vitro experiments showed it matched the performance of a monoclonal antibody positive control. The next phase involves Zentek supplying materials to Dr. Matthew Miller’s team at McMaster University for in vivo testing against H1N1 and the current clade of H5N1 influenza, H5N1 2.3.4.4b.
